Raipur, 8 October 2026: Chhattisgarh NEET UG 2026 Round 3, also called the Mop-Up Round, is at an important stage today. The Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, has extended the choice filling and locking deadline from 7 October to 8 October 2026, 11:59 PM. If you are eligible for Round 3, you must complete your choices before this deadline to stay in the seat allotment process.

Along with the new deadline, the authority has also released a revised Round 3 clear vacancy matrix. It includes the seats that became vacant because of withdrawals and resignations in earlier rounds.

Choice Filling Deadline Extended

As per the official update, candidates now get one extra day to study the revised seat matrix and lock their choices. The window was earlier set to close on 7 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. It will now close on 8 October 2026 at 11:59 PM.

Please note that this extension is only for choice filling and locking. It is not an extension for fresh registration. The fresh online application window for Round 3 was open from 1 October to 6 October 2026.

Revised Vacancy Matrix: 431 Seats Available

The revised clear vacancy matrix now shows a total of 431 MBBS and BDS vacancies for Round 3 counselling.

Course-wise vacancies

  • MBBS: 206 seats
  • BDS: 225 seats
  • Total: 431 seats

Earlier, the count was 424 seats. After adding the seats withdrawn in previous rounds, the total has gone up by 7. MBBS vacancies have increased from 200 to 206, and BDS vacancies from 224 to 225.

MBBS Seat Break-up

Out of the 206 MBBS vacancies, a large share belongs to the NRI quota. So do not assume that all MBBS seats are open to every applicant.

MBBS quota-wise vacancies

  • Government Quota: 43 seats
  • Management Quota: 34 seats
  • NRI Quota: 129 seats

This means general candidates who are not NRIs should check carefully and choose only those seats for which they are eligible before locking their choices.

BDS Seat Break-up

BDS also has a good number of vacancies in this round. The total stands at 225 seats.

BDS quota-wise vacancies

  • Government Quota: 145 seats
  • Management Quota: 71 seats
  • Minority Quota: 9 seats

Dental aspirants may have better chances in this round, especially in colleges that have more vacancies.

Important Instructions for Candidates

If you are taking part in Round 3, follow these steps carefully:

  • Download the revised vacancy matrix and go through it.
  • Find the colleges and seats that match your category and quota eligibility.
  • Do not rely on your earlier choices. Check and select the institutions again for Round 3.
  • Do not add colleges at random if you are not ready to take admission there.
  • Complete choice filling and locking before 11:59 PM on 8 October 2026.

What You Should Avoid

A common mistake is to pick seats only by looking at the total number of vacancies. Many seats come under the NRI, management, minority or other specific category quotas. If you are not eligible for those seats, adding them may not help you.

Also choose only those colleges where you are really ready to take admission. If a seat is allotted to you and you do not join, the registration amount you deposited may be forfeited as per the rules.

What Next?

The current official update covers only the extended choice filling deadline and the revised vacancy matrix. This notice does not clearly mention a new date for the allotment result. Keep checking the official Chhattisgarh counselling portal for further updates.
